Dr. Jason Clement

Dr. Clement received his PhD on October 13, 2016 and is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Alan Pezeshki

Dr. Pezeshki received his PhD on July 29, 2016.

Dr. Shiqi Ou

Dr. Ou received his PhD on October 30, 2015. He is currently working as a Post Doctoral Research Associate for the National Transporation Research Center at ORNL.

Dr. Ozgur Cekmer

Dr. Cekmer received his PhD in the Summer 2015. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Science and High-Performance Computing in the Computational Science and Mathematics division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr. Erin Redmond

Dr. Redmond served as a Post-Doctoral Assistant for the lab until December 2014. Dr. Redmond is now working as a Membrane Technologist at W.L. Gore and Associates.

Dr. Jake LaManna

Dr. LaManna received his PhD in the Fall 2014. He is currently working as a Physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Dr. Jon Owejan

Dr. Owejan received his Ph.D. in the Spring 2014. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Alfred State University.

Dr. Abdulkader (AK) Srouji

Dr. Srouji received his Ph.D. in the Spring 2013. He is currently working on batteries for Bosch.

Dr. Lijuan Zheng

Dr. Zheng received her Ph.D. in the Spring 2013. She is currently working at Proctor and Gamble.

Dr. Michael Manahan

Dr. Manahan received his Ph.D. in the Spring 2013. He is currently working at the Penn State AppliedResearch Lab.

 

Dr. Ahmet Turhan

Dr. Turhan received his Ph.D. under Dr. Mench and served as the Post Doctoral Associate for the lab until the Spring 2013. He is currently working at ASELSAN Inc. in Turkey as a Senior Design Engineer.

Dr. Qingha Liu

Dr. Zhang served as a Post Doctoral Associate for the lab until the Fall of 2012. He is now working in China as CTO of a battery start-up.

Dr. Subhadeep Chakrabortry

Dr. Chakraborty served as a Post Doctoral Associate for the lab until the Fall of 2012. He is now working as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering department at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Feng Yuan Zhang

Dr. Zhang served as a Post Doctoral Associate for the lab until the Fall of 2012. He is now working as an Assistant Professor at the Univerity of Tennessee Space Institute.

Dr. Kyu Taek Cho served as a Post Doctoral Associate in the Mench group until October 2010. He earned his Ph.D. under Dr. Mench working on degradation modes and mitigation of damage from freeze/thaw cycling in PEFCs. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Northern Illinois University.

Dr. E.C. Kumbur

Dr. E. C. Kumbur served as the Associate Director after completing his Ph.D. under Dr. Mench on multi-phase flows in porous media until September 2009. Currently, he is an Associate Professor and recipient of an NSF Early Career Development CAREER Award in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Drexel University, Philadelphia.

Dr. Soowhan Kim

Dr. Soowhan Kim served as a Post Doctoral Associate in the Mench group until June 2009. He earned his Ph.D. understanding temperature gradient induced flow in porous media and polymer membranes in PEFCs. Now works at PNNL on Flow battery and fuel cell systems

Dr. Rama Ramasamy served as a Research Associate from Dec 2005 to July 2008. Dr. Ramasamy worked on a variety of projects ranging from microbial fuel cells to fuel cell diagnostics. He is now Assistant Professor at University of Georgia.

Manish Khandelwal earned his Ph.D in November 2008 working on modeling of cold start behaviour in PEM fuel cells. Dr. Khandelwal is now a senior scientist for UTC.

Dr. Suhao He earned his Ph.D. in May 2007 working on modeling of freeze/thaw cycle and cold start of PEFCs, and now works for Corning.

Dr. Qunlong Dong

Dr. Qunlong Dong earned his Ph.D. in Summer 2006 working on advanced diagnostics of PEFCs in low humidity environments, and now works for Volvo.

Dr. Abel Chuang

Dr. Abel Chuang served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in 2002 working on neutron imaging of fuel cells. Abel is now an Assistant Professor at of Mechanical Engineering at University of Calfornia, Merced.

Tushar Swamy

Tushar Swamy earned his M.S. in 2010 working on modeling impact of interfaces onelectrochemical systems. He is currently a Ph.D student at MIT.

Hemant Bajpai

Hemant (2010) now works for CO-Adapco as Sr. Developer. He worked on modeling of impact interfaces on PEFC performance. He is currently the Technology Manager, Assemblies at R&D SolidWorks.

Marta Hatzell

Marta (2010) worked on multi-phase flow in PEFCs. She accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech University in Fall 2015 after completion of her Ph.D at Penn State University.

Henry Chance became the first alumni of the Mench group in the Spring of 2003, after completing his M.S. thesis work on the use of Dimethyl Ether Fuel Cell for Portable Power Applications. Henry now works for Computer Sciences Corporation in Washington DC.
